Trends for Spring....Anoraks

Trends for Spring

During Fashion Week we saw a lot of Anorak jackets by many designers’ including, Jason Wu, Tommy Hilfiger, and Edun. Even walking through Woodfield Mall over the weekend so many stores (Forever 21, H&M, Love Culture) was showcasing these amazing and very versatile jackets! I love the laid back, casual look of the jackets because you can dress it up and dress it down.

My particular favorite of the jackets it the one with the fur because it will allow you to only wear the Anorak and still be warm. Of the colors, I like the olive/forest green and the grey because they are neutral colors and I love my neutral colors.

Makeup Monday

Makeup Monday

Have you ever wanted amazingly long, thick, luscious eyelashes without using fake eyelashes? Emily and I have been dreaming of the day that we wouldn't have to use coat after coat of mascara, on top of using fake eyelashes. After trying multiple mascara brands, Emily introduced me to Hypnose Drama by Lancôme, the Holy Grail of all mascaras! You might be scared off by the price tag of $26 we believe that spending the extra money on a mascara that really works, is worth it. Hypnose Drama is a volumizing mascara that uses its’ unique brush shape to add definition and length to your lashes. The brush on Hypnose Drama also functions to lift and separate your lashes, creating a false-lash appearance without falsies! Believe us both when we say that this mascara really works wonders!!
On to the second product of the day, the Estee Lauder Artist'S eyeliner. Not only is this a eyeliner but it also has a built in “smudger” that helps you create the perfect smoky-eye. We all know we want that all-in-one eyeliner, the pencil and smudger. This eyeliner helps create the cat eye, smoky eye, winged eye, or just a basic eye. You won't be sorry in purchasing this eyeliner!
This last product is something that many people may either be intimidated or turned off by, liquid eyeliner. MAC Superslick Liquid Eyeliner is one of our go too products when we want to create a dramatic or even a less dramatic look. The best way for you to get the even liquid eyeliner is by first lining your eye with a pencil, this helps the liquid stay in better but also helps you control the thickness or thinness of the line. This liquid eyeliner is our favorite because it lasts longer and it only needs one coat.

What to Wear...Shopping

What to Wear...Shopping

Shopping is probably what all us girls live for; well at least most of us girls live for it. So for today’s blog, we were inspired to make two different “shopping” on the ever loving leggings. The first look is very laid back and casual because of the flat riding boots and the long sweater.  But adding a tote bag, cool aviator sunglasses, and black studs will make you look effortlessly chic!

The next look is a little bit more chic and glamorous because of the nude pumps and the tight striped shirt with the leggings.  Adding the classic Michael Kors tote bag, the lucky horseshoe necklace and the simple black watch can make any girl feel like she is walking the streets of Rodeo Drive.

Trends for Spring

Another trend during Fashion Week 2012 was bold prints. This trend was showcased by Derek Lam and Cynthia Rowerly. This trend should be worn minimally with one bold print item at a time; a blazer, skirt, pants, scarf.
Everyone can wear this trend because of its versatility; wear one bold piece at a time or wear 2 bold pieces at the same time. The minimalist to the outright daring fashionista can get away with this amazing spring trend.

Celebrity Look Alike

Celebrity Look Alike

The first Celebrity Look Alike I picked was the very talented country singer Jessie James. This new country/pop singer is not really well known but I absolutely love her music along with style. I watched her music video called, “I Look So Good (Without You)” and fell in love with her outfit. Since nautical wear is very much a trend right now, this outfit is a perfect fit for that. I love the pop of gold jewelry that is in her outfit and her edgy shoes. Pair this outfit with nude lips, pink blush, bronzer, and wavy hair. Now there you have it, Jessie James’s I Look So Good (without you) inspired look. Here is a link to watch her video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A-35GWbTjus

The next outfit was inspired by the beautiful Kat Graham who we all know is on the very popular show “Vampire Diaries.” This look is very laid back yet chic because of the LBD she is wearing. The little pop of color of pink in her bracelet is a nice way to add color. The best part of this whole outfit is the trendy jean jacket, which had come back into style at full force! Pair this outfit with pink blush and light pink lipstick and you too can look like Kat Graham!

Professional Business Wear

Professional Business Wear

We are starting our “business wear” blog with professional wear. We have two similar looks today, one with a pop of color and the other has a more classic look. The look to your right is the more daring look which I have actually worn this to my internship at a Court. I think this is a very fun look because the skirt a little out of the box but paired with a black blazer, black tights, black shoes, and a pop of red with the shirt, this outfit becomes edgy and trendy. Pair with simple gold jewelry (gold studs and ring) so the jewelry doesn't take away from your statement outfit. OH and don't forget a big black purse to tie the whole outfit together. Emily’s look will be sure to bring a professional and stylish side to your everyday office wear. The last look was inspired by this adorable check suit jacket that is a blazer styled jacket with a retro feel to it. Pair this snazzy jacket with a pencil skirt to complete this look. A pencil skirt is conservative but still shows off a girl best feature. You can wear this look with a pair of heels or flats but for this particular outfit I thought heels complimented the outfit better. To complete this classic-retro outfit, I picked a glass necklace that resembles pearls and cute black button Marc Jacobs earrings that tie into the black! Lastly, no work day is complete without a cute case to keep your computer fashionably safe! You will command attention in either outfit but it’s up to you to make the choice!

Wanted Wednesday

Wanted Wednesday

You can use this trend in your everyday wear, professional wear, and even your swim suits!
Wanted Wednesday is one of our favorite days for blogging because we get to showcase anything and everything we have ever wanted. Yes, this does mean we will be putting certain product’s that we can’t afford but that’s the fun of it. So for the first product, it is the MICHAEL Michael Kors Michael Kors handbag. I have been obsessed with Michael Kors lately, he is an amazing designer! This purse is small, so you can throw your essentials in it and hit the town shopping, running errands, going to lunch, or hanging with friends. It’s a very versatile purse every girl should have in her closet. Now, this is my favorite pick of the day, the MICHAEL Michael Kors Black Crystal-Encrusted Watch. I already have the MICHAEL Michael Kors Gold Plated Stainless Steel Chronograph Watch with Clear Stones on Bezel but this black watch will literally go with everything in my closet. Next, is something every girl should love because all girls love jewelry, this is a 14k Gold Ring from Macy’s. I am definitely a sucker for anything gold, that could be because I’m allergic the white gold and silver but anyways this is just a simple yet timeless ring that can be worn every day, any day. Now it’s time for Emily’s turn for Wanted Wednesday, her first pick was a pretty pale pink skirt from BCBG Max Azria that would be perfect for the spring; you could even pair her second pick with this skirt! Her second pick was fabulous Steve Madden platform wedge sandals which will surely be a show stopper! The last pick was the Prada 'Candy' Eau de Perfume Spray No Color 1.7 oz. This scent smells like vanilla, which lingers on the skin for hours! This will be a perfect scent for spring!

Steve Madden platform wedge sandals, $48
MICHAEL Michael Kors michael kors handbag, $188

Hair

Hair

Long, thick, luscious hair, every girls dream is to have that hair. What if we told you that we have found multiple shampoo/conditioner sets that can actually produce those results? Would you believe it? We both were skeptical about them until we actually started to use them, but one important factor is that you have to use it for at least 3-4 months before you start to see real results. The first product if for all us girls that dye/highlight our hair, Redken All Soft. This product really does make your hair soft! My sister-in-law is a hair stylist and turned me on to this product because her brother’s salon was selling the Redken products. If you truly want shampoo/conditioner that makes your hair soft, while still protecting your color treated hair, this is the product to get.

The next product helps give you long, thick hair. Yes, this horse shampoo but it really does help your hair become longer and thicker. I have been growing my hair out since my sophomore year in college; about three and a half years ago (my hair was shoulder length). Up until a year ago my hair literally stopped growing, so my sister-in-law told me to use Mane & Tail. So I tried it and the results are amazing. My hair is at the middle of my back and although my hair has always been thick, it is becoming a little thicker! I truly recommend this product! Now, Emily on the other hand has much different hair then I and this is why every girl can read our blog and will feel like their answers can be answered. I have long, thick, wavy, Italian hair while Emily has fine, delicate, curly, multi ethnic hair.

The last product being showcased is Nexxus repair shampoo and conditioner. This shampoo and conditioner helps repair severely damaged hair, this could be from highlighting, overall color, perms, or chemically relaxing (Emily chemically relaxes her hair). Nexxus helped Emily's fragile hair become much softer, healthier, and longer (did we mention this happen within 5 months!) because it repairs the hair from the inside out. This product also helps prevent split ends and leaves your hair feeling silky smooth. Now who wouldn't want long, silky, thick, soft, healthier hair? Believe us when we say these products are worth trying!
